The Employer Identification Number (EIN) is an identification number issued by the IRS to all businesses and is used by them to keep track of the business' tax reports. It is like a Social Security Number for a business.
An EIN is necessary to file your Form 2290. If you do not have an EIN, you can apply for it online. Click here to apply for an EIN online or contact 1-800-829-4933.
Once the IRS processes your request, you will receive your EIN. It will take up to 10-15 days for your EIN to become active.
