The Employer Identification Number (EIN) is an identification number issued by the IRS to all businesses and is used by them to keep track of the business' tax reports. It is like a Social Security Number for a business. An EIN is necessary to file your Form 2290.
If you do not have an EIN, you can apply for it online. Once the process is completed, the information will be validated by the IRS and an EIN will be issued.
