Form 2290 is an annual tax return filed by owners/drivers of heavy motor vehicles to calculate and pay the Heavy Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT). There are two different methods to file your Form 2290.
- Paper filing
- e-Filing
The IRS suggests the filers to e-file their Form 2290, as it is processed quickly. It will take up to 4-6 weeks for you to receive your stamped Schedule 1 if you decide to paper file your Form 2290, whereas you will get your Schedule 1 in minutes if you e-file your return. However, if you are filing for more than 24 vehicles, the IRS mandates you to e-file your return.
You need to have the following information to e-file your Form 2290 without any hassle.
