The Taxable Gross Weight of my vehicle increased after I filed my 2290. Should I pay additional taxes to the IRS?

Applicable To
Form 2290 Form 8849 Amendments

If the taxable gross weight of your vehicle increases within the tax year, you must report this information to the IRS. You must file an amendment and let the IRS know that the taxable gross weight of your vehicle has increased. The HVUT will increase with respect to the taxable gross weight of your vehicle. So, while filing the "Taxable Gross Weight Increase" amendment, you must also pay the additional HVUT.
